Livin with the In-Laws

So, the movers came and packed up our entire house. They arrived at 8am and were done by about 2pm. We bought them donuts and Sonic drinks. They were very cool, laid-back guys. Our dog went nuts. We had to kennel her the whole time so she didn't jump anyone, and she wasn't happy about it! We had packed everything for our cars the night before so we had that taken care of. We also had to weigh our cars empty with full gas tanks and get receipts for the Air Force. We're doing a partial move, so that we can be reimbursed for the things we are carrying with us to Corpus.

Anyway, we cannot move into our new house until the 21st, so we are currently shacking it up at my in-laws place. Its been a very relaxing week so far, preceding what I'm sure will be a stressful week ahead.

The Air Force has been giving us the run around with our move and all its logistics. It has made us both wonder if we're the first couple to be trying this moving thing? It's gotten ridiculous.

First of all, we set up our move like a month ago. Originally, it was set for Sept 20th. Then we got a call from the AF saying they would prefer it if we got there sooner. So we changed the move for Sept 14th. Well, Josh has a TDY (temporary duty) in Pensacola, FL that he has to go to like as soon as we get there. In his papers, however, it says his TDY is en route. This means that he would be leaving from Enid, but coming home to Corpus. Someone botched that since we're moving to Corpus first. He couldn't get anyone to change the flight plan. The gov't wouldn't pay for it, so we did, after being told we'd get reimbursed. $175 out of our pocket. Now we've been told we have to eat that because hubs is actually getting a free ride from the Navy. Not only that, but the time between us moving out of Enid and us moving into Corpus is leave time that will be taken from us....wtf?! Ugh, its been really frustrating and today neither of us is too sure what will happen when we get there this weekend. We're driving all day Saturday and we have a hotel for sat. and sun night. That was also a pain in the ass since the Navy was "out" of pet friendly rooms on base, we had to find one off base. There aren't a whole lot of hotels willing to let you keep your 100lb dog in the room with you.

Here's hoping things smooth out a bit!
