Working It Out

I've been struggling a lot lately with the deployment blues and, to be honest, some depression.

One of the best ways to combat these awful nagging feelings, I've found, is working out.

I try to run still when I can. But when the temperatures 8 and the roads are covered in ice, I have to find alternatives. Plus, I enjoy changing it up!

So thanks to my Zeta sister and virtual personal trainer, I've started a weight lifting regimen and added some crossfit WODs to my workouts. I can't afford to go to a crossfit gym, but there are plenty of workouts I can do without equipment at home. These are short and intense. I also enjoy doing challenges. I did a squat challenge that I liked and I'd like to do it again to improve time and/or add weights. Luckily for me, dead lifting 20-24lbs daily and doing squats are part of just being a mom. It's helped a lot and I'm enjoying watching my body tone up and become stronger. It does wonders for my mental health, and I'm counting on it to continue doing that through what's sure to be a rough few weeks. This is a photo I took recently to document my progress so far!

I'm always up for new challenges, so if you have any 30 day challenges you liked, please share!
