I recently got hired as a freelance writer for an online newspaper here in Abilene. I am actually their "Military Marriage Examiner". The paper itself is called The Examiner (theexaminer.com).
I am going to be writing 2-3 articles a week on different aspects of military marriages. I would LOVE any topics/ideas to write about and I would also love feedback on my articles. In fact, the better my readership, the better my pay ;)
Seriously though, I am getting really excited about this opportunity and would really appreciate any support you all can give. I will be posting links to my articles via Facebook and Twitter, as well as my blog. Please spread the word and tune in! I want to hear from you!!!
Congrats! You could write something about unspoken (and sometimes spoken against) expectations of military wives. For example, eternal optimism about moving, assisting with & participating in squadron events "only if we want to", etc. You could look into the history of these, if there is really any legit reasoning behind the expectation, and/or interview some women on their take on the topic(s). Ooh, how great would it be if you could interview some veterans' wives for comparison? Best of luck, and have fun writing!
