We Are Parents?!

So we are home with Elise and trying to adjust to life with a newborn! Which, we are learning, is a neverending adjustment period!

Elise (or Lil Bit, as we've started to call her) sleeps really well for the most part. She just doesn't like to sleep anywhere but in our arms! Sounds sweet, I know, but it's less appealing on two hours of sleep at 4am when you know its not safe for her to sleep in your arms! So we are still working on this.

My husband has been such a life saver. I rarely have to ask him for help because he's been so attentive and involved. I could tell it was difficult for him to go back to work. It was hard for me to let him go as well!

Our moms have also been a huge help. Both have taken serious time out of their busy schedules to come here and help us adjust and catch up on rest. We will never be able to thank them enough!

My recovery has been going well. It's definitely been better than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, the beginning was pretty rough. It was difficult to do what I needed and wanted to do as a mother when I couldn't physically move around like I needed to. I think I'm on the back nine now though. Not to mention I've been dropping weight like gangbusters thanks to breast feeding. I'm actually looking forward to toning back up and getting into that bikini this summer. I've got a new Jillian Michaels workout waiting with my name on it :)

Despite all the challenges she's thrown our way, Elise is just a joy and I can't help but smile and be in awe of her. Even if it is 4am and I'm exhausted. I wouldn't change this life for the world. This is the job I've waited my entire life to have and now that its here, I couldn't be happier.

  2. I knew you'd always needed the stay-at-home mommy gig, so happy you found what you were looking for! Can't believe she'll be a month old this Friday, love on her for us far away relatives!
