8 Months

This month was a big one in the way of milestones for Elise. If you can't read her chalkboard in the picture, it says that she now has two teeth, can crawl, sit up by herself, and sign MILK!

Elise shocked us all with everything she did this month. Her daddy also deployed last week, so we were so grateful that he was here to actually witness all these wonderful scenes. It meant so much to my husband and the last week we spent together was nothing short of perfection. BUT that's for another post!

Elise is officially mobile! She does this funny little army crawl with one leg and one arm, but it works for her and she can move pretty fast! I've already caught her chasing after Macy, following daddy into the kitchen and crawling after me when she wants to sit in my lap. Which is new too...I kept thinking she was wanting to nurse when she was crawling into my lap, but it's not always the case. Sometimes she wants to continue playing, but sitting in my lap and I must confess...I absolutely love it.

Elise is starting to try to mimic our sign language back to us. I think she's been able to tell what we are talking about when we sign for awhile now, but just recently has she started to try to do it back. Milk is the most common simply because we use it most often. We are still working on "more", "please" and "thank you", and "food".

Elise still isn't sleeping like we'd like her to. We have had more good nights (3-4 hrs at a time) than bad ones (every 45-1hr). So that is helping mama! Even with the sleeping being what it is, Elise is such a joy during the day. She is rarely cranky or fussy and always laughing and smiling. She also likes to sing in the car, talk about DADA, and NANA, and most recently....throw both hands into the air and say TOUCHDOWN! (in her own baby way of course).

She is eating solid foods regularly now and we have yet to find something she doesn't like! She eats a lot and we just love watching her experience new tastes and textures. She eats when we eat, whether its at the dinner table together at home, or sitting at a restaurant. I'm hoping that the more we expose her to our dinner time traditions and expectations, the more she will understand how to behave in those scenarios. (We will see!)

We have a lot coming up soon. Elise and I are moving in with my parents in Oklahoma (tomorrow!) This week has been busy prepping for that with cleaning, packing, and running errands to make sure I have all of Elise's immunization records and Macy's special food, meds, and medical records as well.

It's going to be a big shift and change for the three of us, but my husband and I do think it's for the best. There's much more going on in Tulsa to keep us busy and more family to love and support us.

So next month's blog will be from God's Country in Okla-HOME-a!
