Looking back on 2013

This year has gone by so quickly. It's amazing my head isn't spinning from the speed. I like taking a look back to see what events have filled our life for the last 12 months.

First and best moment of the year...well really of our entire lives...the birth of our first child. Elise Barbara McVay was born January 4, 2013 at 10:06am at 6lbs 11.8oz and 18inches long. Our miracle had finally arrived after all the losses and sadness we experienced. And you know what? She is worth all of it. Every minute.
Despite all the physical pain and exhaustion of that day, I still would go back and do it all the same just feel those amazing feelings again. Nothing will ever compare to the first moments you look upon your child.

We spent the next few months adjusting to life as parents, and traveling to visit family.

Then we gathered our strength the best we could to prepare for the biggest challenge we've had so far. Being separated six months, including the holidays and Elise's first birthday and co-parenting from thousands of miles away.

We end the past year and start the new one apart. But we also ring in the year our family becomes whole again. We still have to get past the bittersweet day our baby girl turns one. But after that, we will just try to enjoy the little family time we have left. Then get back to our life and our home in Abilene that we miss so much.

Happy New Year to all!!
