Last week, I was fortunate enough to get to spend a full week in southern California! My surrogate spouse (one of my fellow military wives/friend) here in Abilene is from Orange County and generously invited me to make the trip back there with her and stay for the week at her parents' house! It was a blast!
We jam packed a lot into those 7 days! Condensed version coming up!
As soon as we landed, we headed straight for In-N-Out Burger (if you haven't been there, then you are missing out). We kinda just hung out and recouped from our flight the first night. We hit the sack early and went to Disneyland at 0730 the next morning! My SS (surrogate spouse) used to work at Disney and knows plenty of awesome people that still do. So we were able to get free admission, and didnt really have to wait in any lines. Did I mention that the weather there never got above 89? That in itself was pretty fantastic. We spent a total of 12 hours there. I haven't been that tired in a long time, but it was totally worth it. I haven't had a vacation like that in almost ten years. The kind where you just don't stop because you don't want to miss anything. It was great.
The weekend was pretty low key with hitting the pool and shopping. We also went to a wedding for a friend of my SS's. It was in San Clemente, CA and it was GORGEOUS. I really didn't expect to have a great time since I didn't know any of the people there, but everyone was so friendly and outgoing. We made a few new friends each! We even stayed late to continue our great conversations.
The next day we got up at 0630 to get on the road to San Diego for the Zoo. We planned on spending the entire day there, but we actually saw everything by 130. So we took a nice, traffic free ride home and stopped at the Rainbow show factory on the way. Got some shoes for ourselves and the boys and headed home.
The last eventful thing we did was hit an Angels game in Anaheim. Again, amazing weather! It was wonderful to go to a baseball game and be able to enjoy everything and not be sweaty and hot! I'm excited to cross off yet another ballpark on our bucket list! We have over ten now I believe! We even found a way into the club seating, thanks to my SS and her connections :)
All in all, it was a wonderful, MUCH needed experience. I really hope Josh and I get the chance to go back together. It was just beautiful....and here are a few of my favorite pics.
