My parents and sister came to visit me and we were able to do some home decor shopping, much needed cleaning and organizing, anticipated DIY projects, and even get in some quality family time! I just thought I would blog about a couple of the projects and things I purchased for our home!
My parents actually bought us these! They are from Hobby Lobby, but they just fit me and what I do in my kitchen too well to pass up! Plus, adding these patterns to our dining area has made it so much more cozy!
This was a neat little addition! Just a tiny table for our little entry way. Doesn't take up too much space, but gives us a place to put mail, keys, or Macy's leash after a long walk!
Our laundry room is tiny, but that's no reason for it to not be cute and cozy.
These next few pictures are of my latest DIY project....
So I started off getting some magnetic primer and chalkboard paint! You can get both at Lowe's. They are a little pricey for the size you get, but I figure I don't do projects like this very often, so I thought I'd splurge a little.
My ultimate DIY goal is a bigger project, but since I've never used this stuff before, I tested it out on a small canvas we can use to hang on our door. I first applied 3 light coats of magnetic primer to the canvas. Then two heavier coats of chalkboard paint.
It took about 2 hours to do all the coats and get it to dry. Then I went to Walmart and got some chalk!
Course the best part is I can wipe this and change it to whatever we want! :) This was a really fun and easy project! The bigger one will start as soon as I find what I'm looking for! Until then, I start on the initials that will be magnetized to it....I have a B for me, J for Josh, and M for McVay. Mine's purple, Josh's is silver (master bdrm colors), and then for the M I wanted a combo...polka dots seemed too young and I wasn't into stripes. So I did tiger stripes!
I simply drew what I wanted in with a pencil, then used a very thin, fine paint brush to fill it all in!
Now I just need to find the antique mirror of my dreams to finish this project on!
