Starting of course, with her nursery!
Before we even found out what we were having, we decided on the colors of the nursery: orange and gray. Orange will obviously always be a color that has a hold on our hearts because of our amazing alma mater. Then gray is just my newest favorite neutral color! This is kind of what we've been thinking about....
This is a picture of a friend of mine's nursery she did for her son (Hope you don't mind Emily!). The colors aren't the same, but the idea of a wall rail and splitting the colors is. We would like to have the orange be on the bottom half, gray on the top.
As soon as we found out we were having a girl, I knew it would be a fun challenge to take the colors we already loved and add accents to the room to make a girls room. I've never been a fan of everything being pink...and although I LOVE purple, these colors just seemed to fit our girl. So I began scouring Hobby Lobby and crafting away! These are some of the things I've finished so far.
I got this vintage-looking frame on sale at Hobby Lobby and picked up several different kinds of ribbon and put my glue gun to work! Now our daughter has a cute and original bow holder for all her pretty hair accessories.
This lamp has become mine (and my husband's!) favorite piece. It started out just an orange burlap lamp with a white base at Hob Lob. I bought satin gray ribbon and some gray fabric flowers at Michael's. Hot glue the twice pieces of ribbon all the way around the lampshade and then added the fabric flowers. This wasn't as difficult or as time consuming as I thought it would be and we both LOVE it!
This piece I think was originally meant to be a coat hanger. Not sure. I just saw orange and chevron and a 50% sign and nabbed it! I bought a little wooden "e" and painted it gray. (There will be a blog with her name announcement and its significance later on, hubby is guest-blogging!) I hot-glued the "e" on there and whah-lah! A pretty place for her headbands!
I was an English major ( and still an English nerd) in college for awhile. I've always been a big fan of Shakespeare and when I saw this quote on Pinterest, I immediately thought of our girl. We haven't decided how to display this yet, but I will post when I get it put together!
So that's what we have so far for her nursery! Now if only we could get home and get started on all this! We cannot wait to see what the finished product looks like and we're even more excited to see her in this room. January can't get here fast enough, we can't wait to meet you, little girl! You are already so very loved.
I can't wait for the name reveal! I am excited to hear the details of why you chose it :) I'm so glad to see you gearing up for her nursery in such a cool and unique way. She's going to have a beautiful room!
